Talking with boys on the beaches of Mahabalipuram, approximately 7 months after it was struck by the Tsunami. Although the Tsunami claimed lives, and most of the homes in their fishing village, life had more or less returned to the norm - including backflips into the ocean!

A split second, diverted from hawking his wares. Kolam is a traditional South Indian practice whereby decorative signs are drawn with rice flour or chalk on the ground outside one's home. Generally placed close to the threshold, Kolams are believed to bring prosperity to the house. This man was making and selling perforated rolling tubes to speed up the process of creating Kolam.

Constructed somewhere between the 7th - 9th centuries in the port city of Mahabalipuram, this Shore Temple is an example of architecture from the South Indian dynasty of the Pallavas. Currently classified as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
